How the restoration process works?

Step 1: Initial contact
Email or call with photos and a brief description of your piece. I'll provide an initial assessment and indication of cost.

Step 2: Detailed quote
If you'd like to proceed, I'll arrange to see the piece (either you bring it to my workshop or I visit you). I'll then provide a detailed, written quote.

Step 3: Agreement and deposit
Once you're happy to proceed, I'll confirm the timeline and any deposit required (typically 25% for bespoke work).

Step 4: The restoration
Your piece is carefully restored in my workshop. I'll keep you updated with progress photos for significant projects.

Step 5: Collection or delivery
Once complete, you can collect from my workshop or I can arrange delivery. I'll provide care instructions to keep your piece beautiful.

Can you come over to look at it, or do I need to bring it to you?

Both options are possible.

• For smaller or medium pieces, photos are usually enough at first, and you can bring it to one of my workshops in Tongham or Chiddingfold.
 • For large, delicate or high-value items - or when photos aren’t enough - I’m happy to arrange a site visit.

Do you collect and deliver?

Yes. For pieces that are too large or fragile to transport easily, I can arrange collection and delivery. Fees depend on distance and size, and I’ll discuss this with you as part of the quote.

Do you make bespoke furniture as well as restore it?

Absolutely. I trained as a cabinet maker, and I design and craft bespoke pieces to fit your space and vision - or to transform something you already own into something new (such as turning an old piano into a console table).

It depends on the complexity and condition of the piece. Simple repairs may take a few days; more involved restoration or bespoke work can take several weeks. I always give a realistic timeframe before starting and keep you updated throughout.

In most cases, yes. Whether you need a precise French polish, a perfectly matched stain, or a recreated patina, I can blend new work with the old, so the piece feels complete and authentic.

Wherever possible I use industry-approved materials to restore your item, and where there’s a choice, I will use the most environmentally friendly option. I have a large selection of old timber and veneers, which I reuse wherever possible in new projects.
